Since 1991, we have been training families to train their dogs.  Come join our larger family and create a safe space for all.

As the owner of Paws, I have been working with dogs for  over 20 years and have been instructing others in the art of dog training since 1992. The methods that I incorporate into the classroom are varied, as each dog is an individual. My pursuit of a masters in education and a bachelor degree in animal behavior has helped to make me versatile in my approach.  My experience in obedience competition (AKC & UKC), schutzhund, tracking, agility, conformation, and behavioral modification has broadened my view of training methods.

I specialize in working with children and their families to help create a working relationship.

Our Philosophy

The following principles are incorporated into our training methods.

Training you to train your dog:
Recognizing each partnership is unique;
Always building positive relationships;
In all, learning is a continuous process; and
No dog is too young or too old.

After 20 years of my using the “old” obedience methods, Maria was able to retrain me to use positive encouragement in training. I hear myself “channeling” Maria every time I say “Wrong!” or “Leave it!” followed by a perky “Good Girl!” or “Good for you!!” when they self correct.
